6 months!! 3 months ago

Mckensi took these pictures when me and Luke went up to visit her in parawon. she is so talented they all look so cute and they were just snap shots! anyways I think luke is just such a cute kid. here is a little update as to what he is doing
5 months he started sitting up
6 months he started army crawling, starts saying mamama
7 months. crawls very well on hands and knees. he started puling himself into a standing position and walking along everything, stops saying mamama completly and now he says dadadadada not to be confused with dad.
8 months starts blowing raspberrys on everything...( arms hands legs leather chairs) climbs the stairs at an alarming speed. holds his own bottle, crys when dad mom or grandma and grandpa leaves the room. has a little stranger anxiety. kicks legs super fast and attacks his blanket when you hand it to him hugging it to his face and chest. (if that makes sense). walks behind his toys that have wheels. crawls with his head down when he wants to go faster. is all over the place moving constantly. if he is awake he is moving... church is one of the most tiring activities of the week.
9 months. well he just turned nine months yesterday and has not acquired any knew skills. but we just love everything he does. he is so sweet and has the funniest personality he knows he is not supposed to climb the stairs so when he hears me coming after him he just squeels and climbs faster. I love being a mom to such a cute happy little boy.

3 Years!!

I honestly cannot believe we have been married 3 years today! time has honestly just flown by it seems like just yesterday we were counting down the days till our wedding. I am so in love with chris, I seriously thought that on the day I married chris I could not feel any stronger about him, but I do and I cant wait for all of the years to come. with how fast these 3 years have gone by it makes me so grateful we have eternity together. I love you chris and am so happy I married you. your the best husband ever and I love being with you!

A new first!

So me and Luke were just sitting there this one morning last week and he is just looking at me all sweet like and then out of no where he strikes with surprising speed and attacks my hand... I was expecting it to be just like every other thousandth time he does this when all of a sudden I feel this little sharp thing in his mouth. so i stick my finger in and lo and behold its a tooth! he started laughing so hard when he saw my surprised face, like he was so proud of it and he had been waiting for me to notice. he is gfrowing up so fast and is just so stinkin cute.

Parowan

Kensi was so sweet to whip out her camera while we were up plaing in her yard in parowan. dont they look like they were professionally done? we just love how talented kensi is. oh and thanks for letting us come hang out and feeding us it was super fun.

Luke is sooo talented

a couple of new things for our blog followers. first is about a month ago luke learned to sit up by himself he likes it alot but when he goes to reach for things in front of him he still face plants it. also he only 2 days ago learned to crawl!!! I know he is just sooo Smart... although he will only crawl if he is extremly motivated by something in front of him otherwise he wont. also I think layla looks like a retatrded dog in this picture and I laughed my head off when I saw her in the background.

1 subway+ us = very sore bodies

last week me and Chris decided we wanted to go hike the subway... ok so chris decided he wanted to... i was a bit unsure about being able to finish it after a year of 0 activity. but after alot of reassurance from chris and three very awesome babysitters, my mom kensi and jaylee. ( yes we needed 3 babysitters because it was a 8 hour hike) we finally went! it was BEAUTIFUL!! I loved it. we got to repell and had to hike and swim through freezing water and I just cant say how awesome the firtst 5 hours were... they just flew by. then came the last 4 hours which were hiking out of the subway, it was miserable my toenails felt like they were gonna fall off so every step I wanted to cry. Chris had to carry this huge rope the whole hike so he was dead from the extra weight. needles to say when we finally made it back to the car we were exhausted! and the next 3 days we couldnt move, we would do rock paper scisors to see who would go up the stairs to get luke from his nap and such... very humurous but very painful. anyways we had a ton of fun and missed luke very much.

4th of july in our backyard

we had a fun 4th of july in nashville... it was on sunday so we didnt do alot of the usual 4th activities but we had a yummy bbq, and the city fire works were done in the open field rite ouside our back patio. luke slept through the whole thing even though it sounded like bombs were going off.... as for layla, she was terrified she hid in the closet and her kennel all night which kind of a big deal cause she hates her kennel and also hates not being tight next to us especially if we are outside. she was shaking for a day afterwords.

Nauvoo and Carthage

I have always wanted to see the room that Joseph was last in, ive seen all the pictures and couldnt wait to go in!.... dun dun dun luke did not want to! so half way through the tour me and chris had to leave with a screaming luke, I some times think he does these things on purpose! alas the building was beautiful but the room will have to be saved for another time... perhaps when my kids are grown.

bath time

soooo I just think that this looks so relaxing. and also a month ago! yes he is even bigger than these pictures show. luke loves the bath and always has, plus he smells soo good after I love it.

rice cereal

this was luke a month ago when he first tried eating rice cereal... we decided to stop and wait another month cause he just couldnt quite figure it out:)

So im not sure if you can see what that first picture is... so ill explain, we have a laundry closet just outside our bedroom door. this closet has to doors one that opens in the hall and one that opens in our room. with that explained I have luke sleep on my bed for his afternoon naps cause its super quiet in there. but I do have one problem.... layla.... shse is obsessed with trying to sleep by luke which is one of the reasons i moved him into my room from the couch. whenever I would leave the room even for a sec and come back in layla would be up cuddled next to luke looking at me with her ears back cause she knows she isnt supposed to and will get in trouble... yet she wont quit, its like a couple sec next to luke is worth getting smacked. anyways when i moved luke into my room i would leave the door open so I could hear him, but I could not keep layla out (she usually doesnt like our room cause thats where her kennel is) she is so loud with everything she does that i started shutting the door. she did not like this. unfortunatly she figured out that she can go through the luandry closet and push open the accordian door. now the only way to get her out while he's sleeping since i cant yell or make any noise to get her out, I have to lur her out with this ball she loves it. I think inspite of its annoyingness its super funny.

Luke just loves being naked so he usually is for nap time because we are between jammies and normal clothes for the day so I hold out the naked time as long as possible cause I just love seeing his little rolls.

TWINS

Tyson lori emma and mason came to visit yesterday, we had the funnest day. first we went to the zoo and had a picnic lunch, we even tried minnesotas famous cheese curds ( maybe not so famous but everyone here eats them), basically they are deep fried chunks of cheesse.... surprisingly really good. the animals were all really active not just laying in some corner of there cage asleep. we got to ezperience the orangatangs cleaning each others behinds, Emma was super concerned about this, as were we all. mason ran back and forth all day and never sseemed to get tired it was hilarious.

after the zoo we went to the mall of america and got tickets to the largest indoor theme park in the world, it really was super crazy being inside and going on all of the rollercoasters... well me and lori didnt go on them but tyson chris emma and mason did. after that we went into the 2 story american girl doll store and emma was so in love with the dolls she kept saying " I just want one girl mom" I guess it seemed reasonable to her since there was so many, lori appeased her by getting her a catalog to circle what she wanted, every time would would even semi stop walking to see were to go she would plop right down in the middle of the floor and start circling away. She even borrowed a pen from the lady next to us on the metro to continue circling on the way to the target stadium to watch the twins versus braves. needless to say practivally the whole book was circled by the time we got there.

the twins game was super fun, luke was a trooper the whole day but by 8 o clock it was past his bedtime and he started crying during the game, and then was out like a light from his busy day and didnt even wake up when the crowd would erupt with cheers, I was so impressed with him. we had stadium hot dogs for dinner cause what else would you eat at a major league baseball game? we all wore twins jerseys which made it even more fun, Emma was so into the game she would stand up and yell and cheer and shout frustrations at the players it was so funny because i didnt even think she would know what was going on. Mason was just wired the whole time it was hilarious. when the game was over we were in line for the metro and he was just running everywhere. then he stops and sees those big spotlights in the sky and says" umm.. those might be big fireflys!" then keeps on wizzing back and forth. we got back on the metro and 3 min later me anad chris look back and they are passed out across tyson and loris laps. big day but super fun. I loved evry minute of having them out here, and chris really enjoyed having the day off of work.

Spotlight

I decided I would just do an update of what everyone in my little family is doing right now, just for those who cant stand not being with us, maybe this will help in some small way.

CHRIS-
Is currently saleing for pinnacle in minneapolis and is on track to hit his goal by the end of the summer, just learned how to play farkle, and really enjoyed it. he is managing again this year and is doing really well, his guys are very motivated. and he is getting pretty far on the "impossible game" on his Iphone.

LUKE-
is getting super chubby and is always smiling now. whenever he wakes up from the night or just a nap he will just lay there and smile at me, he is also experimenting with his voice he loves the ooh and ahh sounds and is getting quite good at making them. he sleeps from 730 t0 6 in the morning and takes several naps during the day one of which is a 3 hour one. he loves his food and he can be perfectly happy but when he sees me getting his bottle ready he thinks he has to have now and will scream until the moment it touches his mouth and then silence. he doesnt like the car unless I sit back there with him. and he loves his baby bjourn.

JESSICA-
can now button up my pants ( previously could not because it hurt my insision from the c section), my hair can deffinatly be described as long now. my favorite time of day is now 745 because I realize I have made it through another day of taking care of luke without any major mistakes... its like someone removes a huge load from my shoulders at 745. I no longer like rainy days. I have started running. im doing some research, every runner I talk to I say I cant run more than 1 mile and they're like " neither could I last month and now I run 12" so im seeing if my body can be trained to run more than a mile without shutting down.

LAYLA-
still has not learned how to walk on a leash, im wondering if she ever will. has become even more clingy since we came to Minneapolis. growls everytime she hears someone walking in the apartment above us ( which is all day). and is totally obsesesd with Chris, when he comes home she does not leave his side. and she is slowly but surely getting bigger.

Well I guess you could say my husband loves me:) As i was wandering about the city in traffic with luke and layla in the car, it came to my realization that minneapolis has more bycicle riders on the street than they do cars, how did i come to this realization do you ask, layla happens to love them and is facinated by them, which results in her darting from one end of the car to the next trying to get them, I became frazzled with her barking and trying to get her to stop freaking out, luke crying from her loud bark and trying to still pay attention to city traffic and follow the gps at the same time. Finally i got home hauling lukes carseat and trying to stop layla from tripping me with her leash, up to the third floor. needless to say i was beat and had it not been for these roses waiting for my at my doorstep I may have had a mental breakdown. I just love my husband not only does he work hard but he takes time to make me feel special. I have the best husband ever.

Rub a dub dub

Luke absolutely loves bath time! every night at 7 I start getting him ready for bath and its like he knows whats coming, if he was crying and i lay him on his towel by the sink to undress him he becomes instantly happy. he could stay in all day if i let him, nevertheless bedtime routine must continue after bath so it enevitably always ends.

who's face?

So everyone keeps asking us which one of us he looks like, and i can honestly say i dont know! I guess we will have to wait till he gets older and settles in to his features. for now we can also say that he has the sweetest face and we cant seem to get enough of him.

this post is mainly for chris cause he had to leave last minute to minnesota for work till saturday, so im posting a pic of luke so he can get his fill. Me and luke love you chris and cant wait till you come home we miss you a ton and hope everything goes well for work! xoxoxoxoxo

LUKE'S BLESSING

Last sunday april 11th luke was blessed, his name is Luke Christopher Orvin and his dad was able to bless him, it was a beautiful blessing and i just love the 2 men in my life. I was so happy to look up there and see my husband bless our sweet little boy, if i could have had a glimpse into my life when i was younger and seen this moment i probably would'nt be able to believe how perfect my life would be.

I love this picture cause luke is missing one sock, which just captures how he is all the time cause his fast moving little feet can never seem to keep his socks on.

Chris's Birthday

I just wanted to publicly wish Chris a happy birthday, and just say how dang much I love this man!! he is absolutley perfect for me, I cant get enough of him and luckily he doesnt mind me being completly obsessed with him. I am so excited to have such a wonderful husband to raise our children with and to grow old with. I am so excited for the rest of eternity with him and just love him so much. I have to blog a funny story about him when luke was born so i will remeber it! the first night we went to bed and luke went to the nursery. at about 3 in the morning they brought him into nurse and in comes walking Chris. he had been in the nursery all night holding luke cause he was to excited to sleep. I just love how much he loves me and luke.

oh and this picture is him with his dog layla that i got him for christmas, she absolutly loves him and this is where she thinks she has to be when we are in the car.

lukes birthday

So Luke is finally here, it all started thursday the 18th when i started having bad contractions every 6 min apart. it lasted all day, so that night we went into the hospital and they said i hadnt changed any and sent me home. the next day they got worse and lasted all day long, so after doing some stuff at my moms to relieve some of the pain we decided to go back to the hospital because it wasnt working, they told me i hadnt changed but that they would check me again in an hour before they sent me home. i went from a 2 to a 2+ so they admitted me at 3 o clock saturday morning. i was so relieved to get the epidural, and i went to sleep for the rest of the night. when i woke up the nurse told me that the babys heart rate kept dropping, and that i had stopped dialating at a 7, he was posteriur, and then dr. lunt came in and told me he thought i needed to do a cesarian because they couldnt get me to go any further and they didnt know even if i did get to a 10 if he would make it through. so after a prayer and feeling it was the right thing to do me and chris were both prepped for a c section. 5 min later little luke came into the world. at 1:19 pm he weighed 7pounds 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. Dr. lunt was awesome, the surgery went great, just a slow recovery. we are so greatful to have such a beautiful perfect little baby, we have been blessed so much i cant believe how much the lord has given to me and chris, I will always be so greatful for my little family.
